If you want to travel to the land of the fjords, you usually have to choose the right means of transport, which we have put together for you in an overview. Many travelers opt for their own car or mobile home. In addition to the car, however, you also have the option of reaching the large network of Norwegian airports by direct flight or transfer connections.

BY CAR OR MOBILE HOME

One of the most popular ways to get to Norway is still by car or mobile home in combination with a ferry crossing. Depending on the destination, there are different fast ferry crossings from z. B. from Kiel to Oslo, from the Danish Hirtshals to Kristiansand or from Hirtshals to Stavanger or Bergen as well as from Frederikshavn to Oslo to choose. BY FERRY OR SHIP

There are various ways of entering Norway by sea. To take your own vehicle with you, you can choose from various ferry lines from / to Northern Germany or Denmark. You can either get to Norway directly or you first travel to Sweden by ferry and then by land. Of course, you are also free to book the pure crossing without taking your car or mobile home and to continue the journey by rental car or other means of transport. BY PLANE

You can reach Norway all year round with scheduled flights from many airports. Scheduled flights usually take place (several times) a day. International flights land at Oslo Gardermoen, Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim and Kristiansand airports. From here, the other airports and places in the country can be reached with domestic flights. CUSTOMS REGULATIONS FOR ENTRY

Travelers are allowed to import the following goods up to a maximum value limit of NOK 6,000 (stay outside Norway for more than 24 hours before entry) duty-free and duty-free. Further information on entry requirements can be found on the website of the Norwegian customs authorities.

Alcoholic beverages – maximum levels

– Spirits over 22 vol.% – 60 vol.%: 1 l
– wine over 2.5 vol.% – 22 vol.%: 1.5 l
– beer (including strong beer) over 2.5 vol.% Or alcopops or cider over 2.5 vol.% – 4.7 vol.%: 2 l

Possible import combinations

– 1 l of spirits + 1.5 l of wine (2 bottles) + 2 l of beer (6 x 0.33 l) + 200 cigarettes or 250g of other tobacco products and 200 sheets of cigarette paper or
– 3 l of wine (4 bottles) + 2 l of beer (6 x 0.33 l) + 200 cigarettes or 250 g of other tobacco products and 200 sheets of cigarette paper or
– 5 l of beer (19 x 0.33 l) + 200 cigarettes or 250 g of other tobacco products and 200 sheets of cigarette paper

Alcohol and alcoholic beverages may only be imported by people over the age of 18. The age limit for importing alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of more than 22 percent by volume is 20 years

Tobacco products

Travelers over 18 years of age:
– 200 cigarettes or
– 250 grams of other tobacco products (e.g. chewing tobacco)
– an additional 200 sheets of cigarette paper

Agricultural products

For your personal consumption and use, you are currently (as of November 2018) allowed to bring the following goods from European Union defined by countryaah:
– up to 10 kg of meat, meat products and cheese
– up to 10 kg of fruit, berries and vegetables, but no potatoes
– up to 3 kg of bulbs and tubers
– up to 25 pieces of cut flowers
– up to 50 sachets of seeds

Import bans or only with a special permit

– Drugs, toxins and medicines (small amounts of medicines for personal use are allowed)
– Alcohol and alcoholic beverages with more than 60% alcohol by volume
– Weapons and ammunition
– Fireworks
– Potatoes
– Mammals, birds and exotic animals
– Plants or Parts of plants intended for cultivation
– meat and meat products, milk and milk products from countries outside the EEA
